From a tiny ‘Vin de Garage’ operation, it has become a globally renowned Premier Grand Cru Classé, a testament to the meticulous and innovative work of Jean-Luc Thunevin. Located on the clay-limestone slopes of Saint-Émilion, this wine epitomises the powerful, concentrated, and age-worthy style of the Right Bank.

Tasting Notes (Richness and Definition)

• Colour: A saturated, arterial purple, deep to the rim.
• Nose: Highly perfumed and intense, revealing layers of blackcurrant, damson, liquorice root, and a smoky, cedar-infused minerality derived from its 100% new oak maturation.
• Palate: Rich, full, and beautifully defined. The concentration of fruit is balanced by a fresh acidity and a backbone of fine, glossy tannins. It’s a bold, sophisticated wine with a long, captivating finish of dark chocolate and tar.

Serving Suggestion & Potential

Best served slightly cooler than room temperature, 16°C-18°C (61°F-64°F). Decant for several hours when young. Valandraud is built for the cellar; expect complexity to increase significantly after 10 years. An exceptional wine for a special occasion or a serious Sunday Roast.
