E. Guigal Côte Rôtie La Turque: A Northern Rhône Icon
The Guigal Côte Rôtie La Turque Rouge is rightly considered one of the Rhône Valley’s greatest wines and a global fine wine benchmark. Sourced from a tiny plot on the Côte Brune, this single-vineyard masterpiece achieves a rare balance, merging the Syrah’s inherent masculinity with the aromatic subtlety of Viognier co-fermentation.
Sommelier’s Notes (Typical Vintage)
- Appearance: A deep, intense ruby-red with dark, brooding tints.
- Aroma: Highly complex, offering concentrated black cherry, violet, cedar, graphite, and a signature ‘smoked meat’ or bacon fat note, which is typical of the finest Côte-Rôtie.
- Taste: Full and generous on the palate, exhibiting a beautiful harmony between the wine’s concentration and the refined, silky tannins. The lengthy finish is marked by mineral tension and a lingering spice.
Food Pairing & Decanting
This is a wine for special occasions and grand cuisine. Decant for a minimum of three hours and serve at 17°C.
- Suggested Pairings: Roast Venison Haunch with juniper, Traditional Roast Lamb with rosemary, Beef Wellington, or rich, truffled game dishes.
- Longevity: An exceptional investment with decades of aging potential.
