Château Clerc Milon – Pauillac – Red – 2018:
Château Clerc Milon: Pauillac’s Structured Fifth Growth
Château Clerc Milon, a Fifth Growth in the 1855 Classification, is a star of the Médoc, located between two First Growths. Under the ownership of Baron Philippe de Rothschild since 1970, it perfectly embodies the Pauillac character: powerful yet elegant, with tremendous complexity and age-worthiness. The 41-hectare vineyard, mainly on the beautiful Mousset rise, boasts deep sandy gravel over a clay-limestone subsoil, providing the firm, classic structure.
Tasting Notes
- **Colour:** Deep, vivid garnet.
- **Nose:** Intense and complex, revealing blackcurrant, bilberry, and liquorice, with sophisticated undertones of cedarwood, graphite, and tobacco leaf.
- **Palate:** The entry is smooth and precise. The mid-palate is rich and supple, framed by fine, polished tannins. A signature mineral freshness provides balance to the concentrated dark fruit.
Serving & Pairing
An exceptional wine for a special occasion. Serve between 17-18°C (62-64°F). Decanting is highly recommended for at least two hours to allow the wine to express its full complexity.
- **Pairing Suggestions:** Classic Sunday Roast Lamb with Red Wine Gravy, Venison Stew (Casserole), Mature English Cheddar, Braised Beef Cheeks.
